Tournament rules

 

1. Overwatch and Format

1.1. Player Eligibility

All players participating in Overwatch competitions must provide their Blizzard BattleTag. The game account is needed to invite players into a custom match and to check if the correct player is playing. In order to participate in tournaments by TakeTV, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have an active Overwatch game licence in good standing
  • You must add your BattleTag to your tournament registration at challonge.com

If you do not fulfill this requirement, you will be deemed ineligible.

1.2. Team and Player Names

TakeTV reserves the right to edit Nicknames and/or URL aliases. Team or player names that are too similar to that of another team or player are subject to be changed by TakeTV. If a team name has been wrongly seized, please file a challonge.com private message to “TakeTV_admin“ with proof of ownership of the name.

Only registered team members are allowed to play for a team. Playing in any matches with a substitute is prohibited. Players and teams must compete under their officially registered Overwatch team names and Blizzard BattleTag during all official matches.

1.3. Roster

Team rosters must consist of at least the minimum amount of six players. Teams are only allowed to play with players on their roster with the respective registered game accounts. All roster changes must be made prior to the start of a cup. Playing with different players and/or illegal ringers will result in  disqualification.

1.4. Game version

All players must install the newest version of the game in order to participate in this tournament. Updates must be installed before the tournament starts, so delays will be at a minimum.

1.5. Technical Issues

Teams are responsible for their own technical setup (hardware/internet). Matches will not be rescheduled because of technical issues and matches will be played nevertheless. If technical issues occur the game will be paused by the lobby leader immediately. If the maximum pause time is exceeded, the game goes on, even if the issue is not solved yet.

1.6. Disqualification

TakeTV & Blizzard Entertainment reserve the right to disqualify teams from partaking in the Overwatch TakeOver 2 qualifiers at any time.

 

2. Cup Rules

2.1. Tournament Format

2.1.1. Match Settings

Match series per tournament round:

  • Round of 64 - Round of 32: Best of One
  • Round of 16 - Round of 8: Best of Three
  • Semi-final/Final: Best of Five
  • Map selection:

The map pools for the qualifier tournaments have been preselected as displayed below. A coin flip will determine the team to pick the first map; with the second team to pick their starting side as appropriate. For the remaining games, the maps will be picked by loser’s choice from the map pool, with the winner selecting the starting side. Once a map has been played, it will be no longer available in the series.

Temple of Anubis, King’s Row, Route 6, Nepal, Ilios

Game settings:

       Hero selection limit: 1

All heroes are currently allowed

        Disable kill cam: On

        High bandwidth: On

        Rule set: Competitive

General Rules:

Each won map awards one point.

In case of a tie on any map, no points will be awarded to either team. Instead, the next map is to be chosen by the team with less overall points. If the series is tied a coin flip will determine who decides the next map.

Win condition: A team needs to accumulate points until it is no longer possible for their opponent to catch up. (see the above scoring system for reference.)

Example: Team A successfully won game 1. Team B chooses the 2nd map. The 2nd game gets played and results is a tie. The score  remains 1-0. Team B chooses the 3rd map and aims to even up the score. Team B wins game 3. The score is now 1-1 and a coin fill will determine the next team to pitch a map.

If both teams are tied after three/five maps (in a Best of Three or Best of Five respectively) another Best of Three series on that week’s predetermined Control map will decide the winner.

Please note that the tiebreaker Control map will be played as Best of Three.

2.2.5. Heroes

All heroes are to be set as "on" unless otherwise instructed.

2.2.6. Gameplay Options

2.2.7. Team Options

  • Team balancing: Off
  • When balancing occurs: After a mirror match

2.3. Regions

TakeTV currently hosts tournaments in Europe. Therefore, this tournament qualifier is only open for european teams. Residency determines which region a team belongs to.Only teams with a full european roster can play in the qualifier. If you have any player from NA/AU/Asia you are NOT allowed in the tournament.

2.4. Game preparations

Please resolve any problems that might occur before a match starts. Connection or hardware problems during a match could lead to a disqualification by TakeTV admins. Agreements between the teams/players must be sent to “TakeTV_admin” via a challonge.com private message at least 10 minutes before the game starts. The match must be played with the right settings. Make sure all players are eligible to play. All players must be registered for their corresponding team.

2.5. Substitute Players

NO substitutes are allowed to play for your team during the tournament.

2.6. No show

If a team is not ready to play 15 minutes after the scheduled match time, please submit this to a

TakeTV admin via a challonge.com private Message to “TakeTV_admin”.

2.7. Number of players

Matches should be played as example in 6on6 with 12 players, if a side is missing a player the match can be played with less people but only if both teams agree.

2.8. Disconnects

In the case that a player(s) disconnects, the lobby leader pauses the game. If the player cannot reconnect within 5 minutes the team can choose to play with a disadvantage or forfeit. the team is allowed to continue to play the match at a disadvantage.

2.9. Forfeit

Participants can choose to forfeit a match if they wish. Forfeiting will result in loss of the match.

2.10. Protests

If a match was incorrectly reported by your opponents, your team has 10 minutes to protest (via a challonge.com private Message to “TakeTV_admin“ ) the report. Match protests must include media evidence clearly showing the results of the match/series. Teams are responsible for providing proof of match results in case of disputes.

2.11. Re-host

A rehost can only be played with prior admin approval. Please contact “TakeTV_admin“ via a challonge.com private message to receive approval. In a re-hosted game each participant must choose the same side as they picked at the start of the the original match. Disconnects and lag issues will only qualify for a re-host if the issue occurs the within the first 60 seconds of the game.

2.12. Observers

Observers are allowed only if both teams agree. Exceptions to this rule are, TakeTV admins and people that are given permission by an admin (e.g. shoutcasters or streamer). Under no conditions are teams allowed to play with referees other than approved TakeTV referees.

2.13. Pause

  • In matches which are played in this qualifiers, it is forbidden to use the pause without an obvious reason, such as player disconnects. Custom game host/moderator have to pause the game immediately when a team request it in chat.
  • Team that requested pause need to announce the reason before or immediately after pause.
  • Each team is granted a total of 10 minutes pause time during the match.
  • When resuming the game from pause, both teams need to confirm in chat that they are ready to continue.
  • If total pause time of 10 minutes runs out, the game has to be resumed, no matter if the issue got fixed or not. If one team refuses to resume the game, the oppose team will receive a default win.
  • Admins hold the right to request teams to pause during the match in case of any other issues, and the time used to pause the match will not count for the team it was requested to.

Abusing the pause time can lead into punishment or direct team disqualification. Screenshots to prove of the abuse have to be uploaded to pasteboard.co or a similar image hoster and the URL has to be sent to “TakeTV_admin” via a challonge.com private message.

 

3. Results

Both participants are responsible to enter the correct result. Results must be submitted after all games that have been played. The teams are able to report the match results by their own in the tournament bracket at challonge.com. Alternatively they can send a challonge.com private message to “TakeTV_admin with the results. If anything is unclear, participants should have screenshots and the required replay files available to verify the result and file a protest.

 

4. Communication & Support

Please use match chat, located on the bottom left hand side of your screen or submit a private Message to “TakeTV_admin” at challonge.com for any assistance during the cup.

4.1. Admins

All participants must adhere to the decisions and rules of the tournament organizers, admins, and referees. All decisions are final, except in cases where the option to appeal is clearly stated. Conversations, either verbal or written, between organizers, admins, or referees, and participants are confidential. Publicly posting or sharing these conversations with outside parties is strictly forbidden, unless permission is obtained.

 

5. Match Media

Match media (screenshots, demos, etc), which is used for match report must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, you should upload the match media to pasteload.co or a similar image hoster and send the links to “TakeTV_admin” via a challonge.com private message. Faking or manipulating match media is forbidden and will result in disqualification. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. If an admin is hindered in their work because of bad match media names then it can be punished.

 

6. Casting and Streaming

Casting a match is only permitted with an TakeTV admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a challonge.com private message to “TakeTV_admin“.

6.1. Personal Streaming

Personal Streaming is always allowed if TakeTV or any TakeTV derivate is not casting the same match. If TakeTV is casting a match, personal streaming is not allowed without an admin agreement. Personal Streaming of a match shown by TakeTV, without permission from an TakeTV admin, can lead to a disqualification of the team or ban of the participant streaming content during the tournament.
